JANESVILLE — A federal vehicle involved in an operation in Janesville Wednesday morning was involved in crash when it struck a transport van that collided with a tree, according to the Janesville Police Department.

Police say they were notified that federal agencies were conducting targeted operations on Wednesday.

Janesville police say they were notified of the targeted operation but were not asked to assist in, participate in, or provide information for these federal operations.

Police referred question about detention or actions taken as a part of the contact the ICE Chicago Field Office at (872) 351-3990.

According to a news release, the Janesville Police Department received a report of a traffic crash this morning that occurred during the ongoing federal operations.

Officers responded and conducted an investigation limited solely to the traffic crash.

Police say the incident involved a transport van that collided with a tree at approximately the same time a federal vehicle involved in the operation came into contact with the van.

No injuries were reported, and the Janesville Police Department’s involvement was limited to investigating the traffic crash.

Beloit Police confirmed federal agents were conducting operations in their city Tuesday.
