ROCK COUNTY — A motorcyclist from Delavan has died following an crash Sunday morning near the Rock/Walworth county line.

According to a news release, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office responded about 6:30 a.m. Sunday to a single motorcycle traffic crash on County Highway A east of Country Highway M, in the Town of Johnstown.

Investigators say a Honda motorcycle driven by a 44-year-old Delavan man was going east on Highway A when the motorcycle failed to negotiate the sweeping left curve and struck a mailbox then power pole, and the operator was thrown from the bike.

The rider was pronounced dead on scene due to injuries sustained in the crash, according to authorities.

The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office, Rock County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team and Lakeside Fire/EMS all assisted with the incident.

The name of the deceased will later be released by the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The crash investigation is on going.
