JANESVILLE — Two missing Janesville teens last known to have boarded a bus Monday to Chicago have been found in Florida, Janesville police announced Friday.
Pamela Torres-Castellanos and Liliana Garcia-Barranco were found safe and unharmed, police said.
Janesville Police Detective Stubbendick worked closely with law enforcement agencies in Florida Thursday night and, as a result of those collaborative efforts, received confirmation that both Torres-Castellanos and Garcia-Barranco had been located.
At this time, the juveniles are being cared for at a youth assessment facility while arrangements are made for their transportation back to Wisconsin. Police say they do not have a specific timeframe regarding their return.
Throughout the investigation, Stubbendick has remained in regular contact with both families and will continue to work closely with them as this process moves forward.
Police are asking the community and members of the media to respect the privacy of the juveniles and their families during this time.
The Janesville Police Department thanked law enforcement partners in Florida, as well as the community members who shared information and assisted in efforts to locate the juveniles.
