JANESVILLE — Current Packers players Edgerrin Cooper and Evan Williams, along with alumni players James Jones, Randall Cobb, Desmond Bishop and Brandon Jackson, fired up their fans Wednesday during a Packers Tailgate Tour stop in Janesville.
Fans filled the Woodman’s Sports and Convention Center for food, games and raffles before the players rolled into the convention space in their custom bus to take the stage for a 45 minute question and answer session between the audience and players.
The Janesville stop was in support of Project 16:49 which provides housing to homeless and unaccompanied young people.
At the end of program, players presented Project 16:49 with a check for $25,000.
The tour stopped in Racine Tuesday before coming to Janesville Wednesday. Next is Dubuque on April 16 and Wisconsin Rapids on April 17 before returning to Green Bay on April 18. A variety of surprise and planned visits will be held in each area.
The fan-favorite Tailgate Tour will appear at nonprofit fundraising events each day and will stop along the route at schools, hospitals, businesses, retirement homes and community centers to present donations and giveaway items and visit with fans of all ages. To allow for further opportunities for players and alumni to interact with as many fans as possible while raising money for the nonprofits, fans should note that there will once again be no formal autograph sessions.
